1AD4 is a subminiature filament type, fully-shielded sharp-cutoff pentode valve
(tube), designed for RF and AF applications in portable equipment. It has five
wire leads that can be soldered onto a PCB directly, but can also be cut and
inserted into a suitable socket, as is the case in the ST-2A.
