World War II
World War II, or The Second World War,
commonly abbreviated WWII or WW2, was a global conflict that
lasted from 1939 to 1945, between two military alliences: the Allies
and the Axis. It was the most widespread and probably the most well-documented
war in history. During the conflict, both sides made extensive use of
clandestine radio equipment — commonly known as spy radio sets — to transfer
information from spies to the homeland, to inform governments in exile
and to send information and instructions to resistance groups in occupied
countries.
