The company was founded in Kiel in 1937 as a merger of Neufeldt & Kuhnke, founded
in 1899, and the co-located Hanseatische Apparatebau-Gesellschaft, founded in 1914.
Hagenuk is the abbreviation of
Hanseatische Apparatebau-Gesellschaft
ehemals Neufeldt und Kuhnke.
In 1995, the radio communication division of Hagenuk branched out as
Hagenuk Funknachrichtentechnik GmbH and was relocated to Flintbek (near Kiel).
A year later, in 1996, Hagenuk Funknachrichtentechnik GmbH was taken over
by Daimler-Benz Aerospace (DASA), after which it was renamed
Hagenuk Marinekommunikation GmbH (HMK).
In 1998, Daimler-Benz merged with Chrysler (USA) to become
DaimlerChrysler Aerospace. Two years later, in 2000, DaimlerChrysler Aerospace
(DASA) merged with Aerospaciale Matra (France) and CASA (Spain) to become
the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS).
In 2007, Hagenuk Marinekommunikation GmbH was taken over by
Atlas Elektronik GmbH in Bremen (Germany) — a joint company of
thyssenkrupp AG and EADS. Ten years later, in 2017, thyssenkrupp
bought out EADS and became the sole owner of Atlas Elektronik GmbH.
