Wytwórnia Radiotechniczna AVA
- this page is a stub
The AVA Radio Company (Polish: Wytwórnia Radiotechniczna AVA),
was an electronics firm, founded in 1929 in Warsaw (Poland).
AVA developed and built radio equipment
– commonly known as spy radio sets –
for the Cipher Bureau of the Polish General Staff.
The Cipher Bureau was responsible for the radio communications
of Section II (Intelligence) of the General Staff.
After mathematician Marian Rejewski had joined the Cipher Bureau
in December 1932, and had successfully deduced the wiring of the
German Army's Enigma cipher machine,
AVA built a series of
Enigma doubles, that basically
replicated the Germay Army's Enigma I.
They also built the Cyklometr, a machine to aid the exploitation of
Enigma ciphers.
