Standardization Agreement (NATO) - this page is a stub

STANAG is the abbreviation of Standardization Agreement. It is used by the military multinational North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and its member states, to define a set of interoperability standards for vitually every conceivable detail of the organisation. The word STANAG is followed by a number that identifies the standard. Below is a non-exhaustive overview of known STANAG numbers with additional information.

STANAG 4285
Introduction
STANAG 4285 is a NATO standard for a single-tone MODEM for HF radio links, based on the US military standard MIL-STD-188-110B. The latter specifies STANAG 4285 and 4481 (Minimum Technical Equipment Standards for Naval HF Shore-to-Ship Broadcast Systems). Furthermore, STANAG 5066 describes a protocol set layered on top of the MODEM, and provides some features that are missing from the 4285 standard.
