MA-4400
Secure telephone set - this page is a stub - wanted item

MA-4400 was a secure telephone set, based on a two-dimensional voice scrabler, introduced in the mid-1980s by Racal COMSEC in Salisbury (Wiltshire, UK). The device is basically an embedded version of the MA-4225, which is integrated with a regular analogue desktop telephone set.

The image on the right shows one of the rare images of the MA-4400, which was probably taken from the operating instructions or a sales brochure. The device is housed inside the plastic enclosure of a regular desktop telephone set, and is controlled by the buttons of the keypad.

Compared to a regular telephone set, the MA-4400 has some additional features, such as a push-to-talk (PTT) button on the handset, a secure indicator and a recall button at the top.

The device is interoperable with the MA-4024 and MA-4225 voice scramblers.
