Hardware Security Module · 1991
- this page is a stub
DES-HSM 1 is a hardware security module (HSM),
developed in 1991 by Concord-Eracom Nederland BV
in Amsterdam (Netherlands). It is built around the CRY12C102 crypto chip
developed in 1990 by Cryptech NV/SA in Belgium. It features the
DES encryption algorithm in CBC mode, and was used for many years
by Dutch banks. It was succeeded in 1998 by the
CSA-7000 PCI-card.
|
The device is implemented as an ISA-bus card that can be fitted in a
regular IBM-compatible PC of the era. It has two female
D-sub connectors: a 9-pin
DE-9 and a 25-pin DB-25 one. The pinout of these connectors is
currently unknown.
Apart from developing its own HSMs,
Concord-Eracom Nederland BV also
represented the Australian company Eracom,
which also made HSMs. In 1998, it took over the
Australian Eracom
and switched over to HSMs that were developed in Australia,
while Concord-Eracom itself
shifted its own focus to the development of software.
