Angstrem SN (Russian: Ангстрем СН) was a miniature VHF two-way covert radio transceiver, developed around 1974 by Angstrem in Moscow (Russia), at the time part of the former Soviet Union (USSR). It was intended for use by security services like the Russian KGB. It works in the 196-171 MHz band and features single inversion speech scrambling.

Known versions
  • Angstrem ON
    This version has the shape of a hand-held two-way radio, similar to contemporary handheld radios from western manufacturers like Motorola. It has a built-in speaker-microphone, and a socket for an external earpiece. This version does not have a remote control unit.

  • Angstrem SN
    This is the real covert version. It is based on the Angstrem SN, but is smaller and does not have a built-in speaker. Instead it needs an external remote control unit, microphone, speaker and vibrator.

Angstrem SN
Angstrem SN is the covert variant of the radio. It is based on the Angstrem ON, but is housed in a smaller enclosure, as it does not have an internal speaker. Instead, it has a a miniature 14-pin socket at the top, that accepts an external remote control unit, microphone/speaker and vibrator.
