FINOW-II is the codename of an infrared (IR)
voice communication device,
or photophone, partly
built inside a regular pair of binoculars, developed in the late 1980s
by the OTS of the repressive
East-German intelligence service
Ministerium für Staatssicherheit
(MfS), also known as the Stasi. It is a further development of the
miniature FINOW-I, and was commonly used in combination
with a regular East-German photophone at the oposite side,
such as the JO-4.02 (Große Dahme).
