Flash light extension
The Cube Flasher Attachment is an adapter for connecting standard
flashlight cubes to a subminiature camera like the Minox B,
developed in the 1960s, by Minox GmbH in Germany.
It is attached to one of the short sides of the camera and accepts
disposable four-fold flashlights.
|
The adapter can be very useful when taking pictures under low-light
conditions, for example when covertly photographing documents
in an office. Instead of using bureau lamps as an improvised method of
creating additional light, the use of a flashlight made the whole process a lot
faster, reducing the chance of discovery.
In addition it significantly improves the quality of the photograph,
as it reduces noise (grain). The image on the right shows a typical
Cube Flasher, attached to a Minox B camera,
with a bracket partially covering one short end of the camera.

Please note that there are some variations in Minox flashers.
The one shown in the image was designed especially for the
Minox B and has a rather large hole in the front
of the camera bracket,
to ensure that the Selenium-based light meter is not obstructed.
